How to Set Stop Loss and Take Profit on TradeLocker

How to set a stop loss and take profit on TradeLocker — on the chart, with the SL/TP calculator in dollars, ticks or percent, plus trailing stops, break even and editing open trades.

A stop loss is the one order every trade needs. TradeLocker gives you four ways to set it — on the chart, with a calculator, as a trailing stop and with a one-click break-even button. Steps follow TradeLocker’s help articles, checked November 1, 2026.

Set SL and TP on the chart

  1. Choose the instrument and enter your order size.
  2. Click the + icon on the right of the chart, next to the price scale.
  3. Choose SL or TP — a draft line appears on the chart.
  4. Drag the line to your level.
  5. Click Buy or Sell to place the order.

Use the SL/TP calculator

Expand the order panel with the arrow at the top right and enter the stop and target in whichever format suits you:

Format Example
Dollars $20 stop, $50 target
Relative ticks 10-tick stop from entry
Percent of balance 1% stop = $100 on a $10,000 account
Price A specific price level

Preview the zones on the chart before you confirm. The percent-of-balance option is the quickest way to keep risk consistent from trade to trade.

Add a trailing stop

  1. Expand the order panel and click Trail next to Stop Loss.
  2. Set the distance from price — in price, ticks, dollars or percent of the account — on the chart or in the panel.
  3. Click Buy or Sell.

The trailing stop follows price when it moves in your favour and stays put when it moves against you. Too tight and normal noise stops you out; too wide and you give back much of the move. A distance close to the instrument’s typical range — see the ATR indicator — is a sensible starting point.

Move the stop to break even

  1. Open the Trades panel and select the position.
  2. Click the Break even icon.
  3. Optionally tick the box to include fees and swaps.

Edit SL and TP on an open trade

Go to Open Positions, select the trade, click Edit, drag the line to the new level and confirm.

Size the trade before you set the stop

The stop distance and the position size work together: a wider stop needs a smaller position for the same dollar risk. Work out the lot size first with our position size calculator, or use TradeLocker’s built-in risk calculator — see how to use TradeLocker.
