ICT Trading Strategies

Inner Circle Trader concepts — liquidity, fair value gaps, order blocks and killzones — explained with practical, rule-based entries.

What ICT trading is

ICT (Inner Circle Trader) is a set of price-action concepts popularised by Michael J. Huddleston. It focuses on where liquidity rests, such as stops above old highs and below old lows, and on how price reacts after that liquidity is taken.

The core ideas are liquidity sweeps, market structure shifts, fair value gaps (FVGs), order blocks and “killzones”, the time windows around the London and New York opens when these setups tend to form.

The concepts are discretionary, so write down exact rules for entry, stop and target, and test them before trading live.

FAQ

What is a fair value gap?
A three-candle pattern where the first and third candles’ wicks don’t overlap, leaving a gap that price often revisits. ICT traders use it as an entry zone.
What are ICT killzones?
Time windows when ICT setups tend to form, usually around the London open and the New York open (New York time).
Does ICT work for prop firm challenges?
It can, but the setups are discretionary. Fixed rules, small risk per trade and backtesting matter more than the concept itself.
