Which to choose

Why no deadline helps
A 10% target in 30 days works out to about 0.33% a day across every calendar day. That pressure pushes traders to raise size after a slow week, which is how most challenges fail. Without a deadline you can trade only your setups at a steady risk.
At 1% risk per trade and a 2:1 reward, a 10% target needs a net five winning trades. At 0.5% risk it needs ten. Without a deadline, the slower path costs nothing.
Minimum days still apply
| Firm | Minimum activity |
|---|---|
| FTMO 2-Step | 4 trading days |
| FundedNext Stellar 2-Step | 5 trading days per phase |
| The5ers High Stakes | 3 profitable days of 0.5%+ per step |
| FundingPips 2-Step | 3 trading days per phase |
| Clarity Traders Traditional | 5 trading days |
On a 100K The5ers High Stakes account, a profitable day means at least $500 of profit.
Inactivity rules
No time limit does not mean no activity rule. The5ers requires at least one trade every 30 days to keep a challenge open. Check each firm’s terms for inactivity before taking a break.
How to use the extra time
- Fix your risk per trade before you start, for example 0.5% to 1%, and keep it.
- Skip days without a setup instead of forcing trades.
- Stop for the day well before the 5% daily limit, for example at 2%.
- Review your trades weekly against your plan, not your P&L.
Who should pick a no-deadline challenge
Swing traders and part-time traders gain the most. If you trade a few setups a week, or only around your job, a 30-day deadline forces trades you would not normally take. Day traders with a high trade count gain less, since they can usually hit a target within a month anyway.
The trade-off is cost in time, not money. Most of these challenges charge once, so a slow pass costs no more; by contrast, Topstep’s monthly subscription means each extra month adds a fee.
